SUKAZYM SUKAPhy Phytase
There is quite an abundant amount of phosphorous content in most grains found in animal diets but only a small portion is utilized because the majority of the phosphorus exists in a form called phytate that is not digestible. The digestibility of phytate phosphorus can be increased when supplemental phytase, the enzyme that can decompose phytate, is included in the animals' diet. Phytate or phytic acid is the primary storage form of phosphorus in grains. Most animals are unable to digest phytate because of the lack of the natural digestive phytase. This result in a substantial amount of phosphorus that is excreted as waste and only a small percentage utilized by the animal. Phytate also has other anti-nutritive effects, as it is known to reduce the availability and utilization of other nutrients. Because phosphorus is an essential to animal growth and health, it is unfortunate that commercial inorganic phosphorus is supplemented in the diet to meet the animals' requirement. Phytase is an enzyme that specifically acts on phytate, breaking it down to release phosphorus in a form available to the animal. This greatly reduces the need for supplemental inorganic phosphorus and improves the nutritional value of feedstuffs. Unlike the nonstarch-polysaccharide-degrading enzymes, phytase is one of the exogenous enzyme that has consistently shown benefits to many types of animals and particularly pigs. Some animal feeds like corn and soybean contain little phytase and so should be supplemented to the animals' diet.
Some commercial pelltized feeds claim to contain phytase. However, because phytase is a protein, it may be useless when subjected to much heat during the pelleting process. Phytase is sensitive to degradation when stored in premixes in feeds under high temperature and moisture. Sukahan (Weifang) Bio-Technology Co., Inc. produce high purity phytase not in pelletized form and retains all potential activities of the enzyme for use by the animals.

WHAT IS SUKAPHY? |
SUKAPhy is a phytase-based product obtained by fermentation of high-yield enzyme bacterial strains. Phosphorus in corn, barley, wheat, soybean meal, bran is mostly phytate phosphorus and animals do not pocess the means to absorb the phosphorous because of the lack of natural enzymes in the animals gastrointestinal tracts. Expensive supplemental phosphates must be added to animal feeds to augment the need of phosporous for proper animal growth. Since phytase can decompose phytate phosphorus and make phosphorus in feeds available for absorption in animals, it follows that supplemental phosphates is unnecessary and thus reducing cost of livestock production and farming of animals. SUKAPhy can improve phosphorus utilization and decompose anti-nutritional factors in phytates. It is known that phytase in animal diet improves availability of calcium and other minerals. Calcium intake is a requirement for particularly for egg layer hens to develope good egg shells. Its presence in diet of animals also increases growth rate specially in pigs and overall enhances the energy value in feeds. The lack of these beneficial enzymes in animals intestinal tracts affects their growth and health. Phytic acid is the major stored form of phosphorus in cereals, legumes and oilseeds. It serves several physiological functions and also significantly influences the functional and nutritional properties of cereals, legumes and oilseed in natural or as processed feed by forming complexes with proteins and minerals. SUKAPhy is available in powder form as SUKAPhy PW 5 (enzyme activity of 5,000U/g). Unit Definition: The amount of enzyme needed to produce 1 umole phosphorus from phytic acid in one minute. |
